Faits rapides: This medieval stone gate once formed part of Hainburg's 2.5-kilometer city wall, one of the longest preserved fortification systems in Austria. Its name comes from the Hungarian word for gate, reflecting the town's historic role as a border stronghold between Austria and Hungary.

Points forts: On summer evenings, the setting sun streams directly through the gate's narrow archway, casting a warm orange glow across the ancient cobblestones below. Local legend says a Hungarian queen once rode through this very gate in 1683, fleeing the Ottoman army with nothing but the clothes on her back.
