Faits rapides: L'une des plus grandes places urbaines d'Europe s'étend sur près de 7 hectares, une superficie équivalant à environ 10 terrains de football. Les dalles de granit de la place sont témoins de tout, des parades militaires solennelles aux concerts rock massifs rassemblant plus de 100 000 personnes.
Points forts: Au cœur de la place se dresse l'obélisque de granit de 38 mètres surmonté de l'Ordre de la Victoire, mais la partie vraiment émouvante est constituée des trois bas-reliefs en bronze autour de sa base. Chaque panneau représente une étape différente de la guerre : l'appel au combat, la lutte des partisans dans les forêts et le retour victorieux, avec de véritables visages humains gravés dans le métal qui semblent changer d'expression alors que la lumière du soleil se déplace sur eux.
