Among the best things you can do in Pruzhany, Belarus, is a tour of the 19th century Pruzhany Palace, which houses a local history museum with 14,000 exhibits. A nearby 12 hectare park offers peaceful walks. End your visit at the Cathedral of Saint Alexander Nevsky with paintings from 1914.
1. Pruzhany Palace

The manor was built in the 19th century by the wealthy Švykovský family on the site of an older homestead, and the original tiled stoves and fireplace have been preserved here to this day.
Points forts: One hall features a unique alabaster fireplace with reliefs of Greek myths. When touched, you can feel the cold, smooth surface of the stone, which was brought here all the way from Italy. Above the fireplace hangs a huge mirror in a gilded frame, which once reflected countless balls and receptions of the nobility.
2. Pruzhany Park
You will find a romantic landscape composition with water channels and a manor house that takes you to another era. Walk along the alley of century-old oaks and discover mysterious corners where time has stopped.
Faits rapides: It stretches over 16 hectares and is home to more than 50 species of trees and shrubs. In the middle of the park stands a manor house that once belonged to the Švykovský family, and the park was established in a romantic style with beautiful lakes and canals.
Points forts: Water plays a major role in this park through a system of artificial canals and ponds that create the impression of a Venetian atmosphere in the middle of Belarusian forests. It is most picturesque in spring when dozens of rhododendrons bloom and their reflections color the lake surface pink.
3. Synagogue in Pruzhany
The only preserved wooden synagogue in the region with beautiful frescoes that survived the war and the Soviet era. Walk through a space where once the entire Jewish community prayed and breathe the atmosphere of centuries of history.

5. Church of St. Michael the Archangel
Step into a long-lost world of wooden sacred architecture. You will see a masterfully carved iconostasis and experience the peace that breathes from every beam.
Faits rapides: This wooden church from 1893 is a masterpiece of folk architecture. Its bell tower is adorned with four smaller towers symbolizing the four evangelists.

6. Monument to the Victims of the Chernobyl Disaster
The only place in the region where the history of the Chernobyl tragedy touches you directly. You will see a touching memorial with a bell and plaques with the names of victims from surrounding villages.

SPECIFIC TIP: Eat at the little canteen behind the culture center, not at the hotel restaurant. Proper homemade food for 8 BYN. Also bring cash, cards don't work in half the places here.
The train station area is rough and run down but the center is well kept. Weather was rainy when I went so that probably affected my mood. Nice place for a day trip from Brest though.
Honestly a bit boring for my taste. Not much going on after 6 pm. The lake area is pretty but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. Maybe better in autumn.
SPECIFIC TIP: The bus from Brest to Pruzhany costs less than 5 BYN and runs every 2 hours. Don't bother with a taxi, the drivers at the station will charge you 3x the bus price for a 1.5 hour ride.
Went in July and it was hot, like 30 degrees. The museum in the palace is worth an hour but don't expect world class. Town felt very safe even walking late at night.
