Faits rapides: La rivière des Rêves dorés relie le lac Alta au lac Green, serpentant à travers 4 kilomètres de marais et de forêt. Les pagayeurs partagent ces eaux avec des castors, des loutres et parfois un ours noir aperçu sur les rives.

Points forts: À son point le plus étroit, la rivière se resserre à seulement 3 mètres de large, obligeant les pagayeurs à slalomer dans un tunnel de branches de saule surplombantes. L'eau prend une teinte ambre chatoyante au soleil de fin d'après-midi, colorée par les tanins qui s'infiltrent depuis les racines des cèdres et donnant à la rivière son nom doré.

Conseils d'initiés

• Bring a waterproof bag for your camera because the best photos are possible right from the water, and surprise showers are common even in summer.
• Start early in the morning to avoid crowds and have the best chances of seeing beavers and herons.
• Wear waterproof sandals or water-resistant shoes because you will definitely get water in the boat when passing through the rapids.
• Finish paddling before dusk because the weather in the canyons changes quickly and can become cold.
