Faits rapides: Le sable volcanique sombre donne à cette plage au bord du lac une teinte charbon, sous-produit du volcan de 2 847 mètres qui domine directement l'eau. Même pendant les journées les plus chaudes de janvier, le lac avoisine 18 °C, alors les nageurs entrent dans l'eau pour un choc vivifiant avant de se faire dorer sur le sable noir.
Points forts: Après le coucher du soleil, une pulsation orange ténue nage souvent dans le cratère ouvert du volcan, un lac de lave projetant une lueur de feu de camp sur l'eau. L'éruption de 2015 a transformé cette pulsation en fontaines de roche en fusion s'arquebasant au-dessus du sommet, envoyant les nageurs se précipiter sur la rive tandis que tout le ciel rougeoyait d'écarlate.
