Faits rapides: Haute de 65 mètres, c'est la plus petite des trois grandes pyramides, mais la seule à porter encore un revêtement de granit rouge à sa base. Ses flancs escarpés et son parement massif survivant lui donnent un air plus brut et plus ancien que ses voisines plus lisses, et l'on peut s'en approcher directement et toucher la pierre nue.
Points forts: Une bande de granit rose patiné enserre encore les 16 assises les plus basses, marquant la ligne où les ouvriers antiques sont passés du calcaire du désert à la pierre transportée sur 950 kilomètres en amont depuis Assouan. En pressant votre paume contre ces blocs, pesant chacun plusieurs tonnes, vous pouvez suivre des traces de ciseau laissées par les équipes de carrière et sentir une pierre qui a survécu à plus de quatre mille ans d'intempéries.

- Wear grippy closed-toe shoes for the steep 25-meter entrance passage, which gets slick with humidity and thousands of daily footsteps.
