Faits rapides: Chaque jour, plus de 10 000 visiteurs affluent ici pour s'imprégner de l'atmosphère du plus grand marché de toute la Polynésie française. Les vendeurs proposent des thons fraîchement pêchés pesant plus de 50 kilogrammes, aux côtés de gousses de vanille de l'île de Tahaa et de bijoux en nacre de l'atoll de Manihi.
Points forts: Par matinée torride, vous y verrez des pêcheurs vider devant vous des thons et des espadons de plusieurs centaines de kilos à coups de machette bien aiguisée, tandis qu'à côté embaument le café et les bananes frites. Les week-ends, la cour accueille des spectacles de danse en pareo traditionnel, où les femmes locales tressent des couronnes d'hibiscus sous les yeux des touristes.

- On weekends, avoid the main street in front of the market between 10 and 11 in the morning, crowds from cruise ships flow through there.
