Faits rapides: Roughly 15,000 works span from the early 20th century to today, with one of Europe's largest collections of Otto Dix's paintings under one roof. The massive glass cube sits directly atop a former U-boat parking garage, giving the museum a surprisingly compact footprint of just 5,000 square meters.
Points forts: The glass facade is made of 351 specially treated glass panels that refract light in shifting colors throughout the day, so the building itself performs like a living artwork. On Level 1, you'll find the Otto Dix collection, where his biting portraits of Weimar-era Berlin society feel like they're staring straight through you.
