The crypt holds the tombs of the dukes of Württemberg, including the famous Eberhard the Bearded, plus two magnificent Renaissance bronze effigies.
Points forts: Above the south choir windows, medieval stonemasons carved their own self-portraits, including a smiling craftsman holding his tools, a tiny human signature on a grand religious building. During restoration after WWII bombing, workers found medieval frescoes hidden beneath centuries of whitewash, revealing vivid 14th-century paintings that had been lost to memory.
