Faits rapides: The Ġgantija Temples have stones weighing up to 50 tons, some of the heaviest prehistoric stones anywhere in the world. The temples are older than the Great Pyramids of Egypt and Stonehenge.
Points forts: One of the temple's largest stones measures about 6 meters long and weighs an estimated 50 tons, an impressive feat for ancient builders who had no metal tools. Visitors can feel the rough limestone walls, which radiate a coolness that locals once believed had protective powers.
