Faits rapides: Il s'agit d'une tour monumentale érigée sur les rives du fleuve Taedong, avec une flamme illuminée au sommet qui s'allume chaque soir. Sa construction célèbre l'idéologie politique qui porte son nom, et c'est l'un des points de repère les plus reconnaissables de la capitale.
Points forts: La flamme au sommet de la tour n'est pas seulement décorative : elle est illuminée la nuit et symbolise la continuité de l'idéologie, créant un contraste spectaculaire avec l'obscurité du fleuve. Depuis le piédestal, on peut voir toute la place Kim Il Sung de l'autre côté du fleuve, un panorama que peu d'endroits offrent avec autant de clarté.
