Posjeti ostrvo Culatra
Meilleur moment pour visiter
Visit on a weekday morning from May to September to catch the calmer waters and avoid weekend crowds. Early autumn offers warm swimming conditions with thinner crowds than peak July and August.
Conseils budget
The ferry from Faro costs around 3-4 euros round trip, one of the cheapest boat rides in the Algarve. Bring your own snacks and water if eating at the island's tiny grocery is enough, though the grilled sardine lunches at the waterfront restaurants are surprisingly reasonable.

À propos
Faits rapides: This barrier island sheltering the Ria Formosa lagoon is home to 1,000 year-round residents who grew up without cars, just sandy footpaths. No high-rises or resorts exist here, giving way to wooden walkways and brightly painted fishermen's cottages.
Points forts: Locals still play a traditional card game called Sueca at the island's sole cafe well into the evening, and you can hear the laughter and slapping of cards from the sand. The entire eastern stretch of sand shifts so much with winter storms that the beach's shape changes noticeably from one year to the next.
Conseils d'initiés
- Take the early ferry (around 8:30 AM) to experience the island before day-trippers arrive and watch fishermen unload their catch.
- Bring sandals or water shoes for the 15-minute boardwalk trek from the ferry dock to the ocean side, as the sand gets scorching by midday.
- Skip the closest restaurant to the ferry stop and walk 5 minutes further to the one with the blue door for better grilled fish and fewer flies.
- Pack a windbreaker even on sunny days, the Atlantic breeze picks up sharply after 3 PM along the unprotected eastern beach.

Oui, vraiment gratuites. Pas besoin de carte de crédit. Pas de piège.
