Faits rapides: Une silhouette imposante et semblable à une forteresse couronne la colline, sa grande rosace projetant une lumière à travers un treillis sur le granit brut que les visiteurs peuvent sentir sous leurs pieds. À l'intérieur, une chapelle baroque somptueuse et un cloître orné de panneaux d'azulejos bleu et blanc révèlent des liens royaux surprenants, et un récital d'orgue occasionnel fait vibrer les voûtes de pierre.
Points forts: Construit au XIIe siècle, sa silhouette de forteresse avec ses tours crénelées jumelles et sa nef romane trapue donne l'impression de remonter au 1100, avec sa pierre humide, l'encens léger et les échos qui font résonner les pas. Le cloître est bordé d'azulejos bleu et blanc du XVIIIe siècle représentant des scènes bibliques, leurs carreaux peints scintillant sous la lumière inclinée tandis que les marches usées portent encore les rainures des pieds de pèlerins au fil des siècles.
