Faits rapides: Près de 300 ans d'emprisonnement se sont écoulés entre ces murs de pierre avant que la dernière cellule ne soit vidée en 1909. Plus de deux douzaines d'instruments de punition subsistent dans les salles, dont un collier d'interrogation à pointes et une lourde ancre de pilori en fer.

Points forts: Descendez l'escalier en colimaçon usé et vous atteignez une chambre d'un noir absolu où un interrogatoire enregistré résonne de la voûte en pierre, calé sur de véritables transcriptions de procès du XVIIe siècle. Levez les yeux pendant que vous écoutez, et de faibles traces de suie laissées par des siècles de lumière de torches dessinent encore les nervures du plafond au-dessus du chevalet de torture.
