Points forts: Look for the century-old dragon tree near the upper terraces, its gnarled trunk looks like something out of a fantasy novel. As you wind up the paths, watch for the resident peacocks that roam free and often perch dramatically on the stone railings framed by the sea behind them.

• Bring a camera with a zoom lens to capture the peacocks and the panoramic views from the summit
