Faits rapides: Perché sur les remparts de l'historique Fort de Galle, ce phare blanchi à la chaux guide les navires depuis 1939. Sa tour de 26 mètres se dresse à l'extrémité sud du fort, où l'océan Indien vient s'écraser contre les anciens murs de pierre en contrebas.
Points forts: Contrairement à la plupart des phares qui se dressent seuls, celui-ci s'élève directement du sommet des murs originels du bastion hollandais du 16e siècle. Au coucher du soleil, la structure entière brille d'une lueur dorée contre l'océan bleu profond tandis que les pêcheurs locaux lancent leurs lignes depuis les rochers juste en dessous.

- Come during weekdays early morning to have the spot almost entirely to yourself before tour groups arrive.
- The adjacent fort ramparts offer a higher vantage point for photos that include both the lighthouse and the ocean.
- Skip climbing the lighthouse itself, it's not open to the public, but the surrounding area is the real attraction.
