Faits rapides: Minaret penché à un angle de 4 degrés suite aux dommages causés par la guerre civile syrienne. La mosquée date du XIIIe siècle et abrite un fragment qui serait issu du rideau original de la Kaaba.
Points forts: Les fidèles s'y rassemblent encore sous un immense plafond en bois vieux de 500 ans, assemblé uniquement avec des chevilles en bois, sans aucun clou. Pendant la prière du vendredi, la voix de l'imam résonne dans la cour en pierre comme elle le faisait il y a sept siècles, portée par le parfum des orangers plantés par les gouverneurs ottomans.
