Faits rapides: L'empereur romain Hadrien visita Antalya en 130 apr. J.-C., et cette porte en marbre à trois arches fut construite pour commémorer son arrivée. La porte était cachée sous des siècles de remparts jusqu'aux années 1950, lorsqu'une fouille minutieuse la révéla dans un état quasi parfait.
Points forts: Regardez attentivement les deux tours qui flanquent la porte : celle du sud est une construction romaine d'origine, tandis que celle du nord fut reconstruite par les Turcs seldjoukides des siècles plus tard, créant une capsule temporelle accidentelle de deux empires. Les délicates sculptures florales le long des arches montrent encore des traces de la peinture d'origine qui les animait.

- The grooves worn into the marble road surface beneath the gate are actual Roman-era chariot tracks.
