Faits rapides: Le Design Museum a emménagé dans son domicile actuel, un bâtiment moderniste des années 1960 reconverti qui abritait autrefois l'Institut du Commonwealth, en 2016 après une transformation de 83 millions de livres. Vous y trouverez plus de 1 000 objets exposés allant du mobilier à la mode en passant par la typographie et les interfaces numériques.
Points forts: L'époustouflant toit en cuivre parabolique du musée, construit à l'origine pour l'Institut du Commonwealth, a été soigneusement préservé et inonde désormais l'intérieur de lumière naturelle à travers un vaste atrium. Levez les yeux en entrant : le plafond en courbe crée une atmosphère presque cathédrale, tandis que la structure originale en béton à paraboloïde hyperbolique reste complètement apparente.
