About

Faits rapides: Spanning a little over 1,595 feet, the bridge offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding skyline that draw millions of walkers and cyclists annually. The unforgettable experience includes a unique blend of Gothic-style arches and an intricate web of cables that create an iconic silhouette against the cityscape.

Points forts: The hand-woven steel cables, each made with over 5,000 miles of wire, give the structure its unique strength and a mesmerizing, web-like pattern. At dusk, the warm glow of the vintage-style lamps creates a magical golden pathway that feels like stepping into an old New York postcard.

Insider tips

  • Wear comfortable shoes, the wooden planks can be uneven and slightly slippery after rain.
  • Start on the Brooklyn side for the best waterfront and Manhattan Bridge framing, especially at Washington Street in DUMBO.
  • Stay to the right of the central walkway to avoid faster cyclists and give them room to pass safely.
  • Go early to avoid crowds and watch for sudden gusts on the exposed bridge, bring a light layer for wind.

Went around noon, super crowded with cyclists. Paid $15 for a bike rental which saved time, but selfie spots were always busy.

Visité un jour de semaine pluvieux, peu de monde mais le vent rendait frais. La balade gratuite allait, mais le brouillard a ruiné mes photos du skyline, donc pas la peine ce jour-là.

Arrived at 6:30am, almost empty and peaceful. Free to walk and the sunrise views were totally worth it, but souvenir stalls are pricey.

Came at sunset with moderate crowds; the walk took about an hour. No fee and skyline photos were great, guided tours felt a bit unnecessary.
