Inside, the house holds a museum collection of over 20,000 pre-Columbian and Byzantine art objects, including rare Byzantine silver and ivory carvings.
Points forts: Wander through the secluded Pebble Garden, where smooth river stones are set into intricate geometric patterns in the mortar, creating a subtle mosaic underfoot that shifts appearance with the light. The original magnolia trees planted in the 1920s still bloom each spring, their enormous white petals drifting across the Orangery lawn.
