Plan language: HrvatskiThe best things to do in Valparaíso, Chile, begin on the slopes of Cerro Alegre, where the 19th century funicular Ascensor Concepción climbs 70 meters upward. From there, head to Pablo Neruda's house museum La Sebastiana, which offers a view of the entire port. Finally, stroll through the Museo a Cielo Abierto open air museum, featuring over 20 large scale street paintings.

Valparaíso's heart beats here, among colorful houses and sea winds. Walk along narrow staircases and discover a new mural or ocean view around every corner.
Brze činjenice: Cerro Alegre is one of Valparaiso's oldest and most colorful neighborhoods, where streets are lined with 19th-century colonial architecture houses. Views of the Pacific Ocean and the port open up from here, framed by murals and street art painted on the hillsides.
Istaknuto: In the morning, the sun illuminates the facades of Cerro Alegre so that the yellow, blue, and red houses almost seem to glow. If you arrive at the right time at the Pasaje Galvez staircase, you can see how the local neighbors bring flowers to their balconies just as they did in the 1880s.

A ride on the funicular from 1883 is like stepping back in time. The panoramic view from the top of Valparaíso Bay and the colorful Cerro houses literally takes your breath away.

A place where Chile's history meets the winds and colors of the Pacific Ocean. Stand at the viewpoint framed by two giant columns and feel how the sea flows into the city.
Istaknuto: Mještani ga nazivaju "mjesto susreta gdje more ljubi zemlju", jer ocean se vidi izravno ispod kraja trga. Svaki dan u 12 sati sunce pogađa točno lijevi obraz kipa Nikolausa von Platena i stvara 47-minutnu igru svjetlosti na okolnim fasadama.

One of the best places to see Valparaíso in its entirety. The entire port city, colorful houses, and the ocean lie at your feet.

Riding this historic funicular is like stepping back in time. Sitting on the wooden benches, you feel the carriage creak up the steep slope and the view of the entire Valparaíso Bay opens up.

Adventure in a labyrinth of colorful streets, where a new mural awaits around every corner. Take the elevator up, walk the narrow staircases, and discover Neruda's inspiring world.

Here you can see how the actual tower bell is wound up by hand every day. Climb 70 steps and see the view that opens over the rooftops of the city.

Weather was all over the place. Sunny then fog then cold. Pack layers for sure.
Bring cash in small bills. Half the places we tried didn't take cards and nobody had change for big notes.
Loved the chaos of the funiculars and the views from the top. Would go back just for the seafood.
Grabbed some empanadas from a random shop up the hill and they were amazing. Way better than the tourist spots.
Skip the restaurants on the main drag in cerro concepcion. Walk deeper into the hills, half the price and actual locals eating there.
