Istaknuto: Locals rub Botero's Gertrudis on her belly and bronze toes for good luck, leaving those spots polished to a gleaming golden shine against her darker patina. After a vandal damaged her in 2006, the city repaired her so thoroughly that the scar became part of her story, a testament to Cartagena's fierce protectiveness of her.
