Istaknuto: Collector Sir Alfred Chester Beatty amassed more than 20,000 objects, and the galleries use low amber lighting and velvet-lined cases to make gold leaf and pigments glow. A rotating display places a 13th-century Psalter beside a 17th-century Japanese scroll, creating surprising cross-cultural conversations up close.
