Brze činjenice: Carved by flash floods over millennia, this narrow gorge in Fuerteventura's interior reaches depths of over 100 meters in places. The canyon walls reveal volcanic layers in striking shades of red, ochre, and black, creating natural cross-sections of the island's fiery geological history.

Istaknuto: Most visitors stick to the coast and never see this 800-meter long slot canyon where the walls close in until you can touch both sides at once. After winter rains, a shallow stream appears and the canyon transforms into a lush micro-oasis with ferns and wild palms clinging to the damp cliffs.

• Wear sturdy water shoes or hiking sandals, as you will be walking on uneven rock and possibly through shallow water.
• Park at the dirt lot near the main road and follow the dry riverbed upstream, there are no official signs marking the entrance.
• Visit after a rainy spell to see the canyon at its most dramatic with flowing water and revived plant life.
• Arrive early in the morning to have the entire canyon to yourself, as tour groups tend to show up around mid-morning.
