Brze činjenice: Otprilike 80 siročadi i ozlijeđenih slonova živi i slobodno luta po imanju od 25 hektara uz rijeku. Svako jutro oko 10 sati krdo maršira ulicama do obližnje rijeke na svakodnevno dvosatno kupanje, povorka koja privlači tisuće posjetitelja.
Istaknuto: Za razliku od zooloških vrtova u kojima su životinje odvojene od ljudi ogradama, mahouti (čuvari) žive uz određene slonove 24 sata dnevno, 7 dana u tjednu, gradeći veze koje traju desetljećima. Jedan stariji mahout po imenu Somapala brine o istom slijepom slonu po imenu Tikiri već 35 godina, a ona odmah prepoznaje njegove korake i glas.
