Brze činjenice: Šetnja uskim sokacima otkriva miris tamjana iz skrivenih galerija, hladovinu vjetrotornjeva i male kafiće koji su savršeni za predah od gradske buke. Više od stotinu tradicionalnih kuća čuva ručno izrađene drvene prozore i mirna dvorišta, mnoge su danas pretvorene u umjetničke ateljeje i intimne galerije.
Istaknuto: Krajem 1800-ih trgovci iz grada Bastak u južnom Iranu sagradili su nisku četvrt s karakterističnim drvenim vjetrotornjevima, barjeelima, koji i danas tiho usmjeravaju hladan zrak kroz uske, 2 do 3 metra široke sokake. Dok hodate pokraj kamenih kuća, osjetit ćete miris kardamoma i pečene kave iz malih kuća za čaj, a lokalna priča kaže da jedna obitelj čuva isti recept kave kroz najmanje tri generacije.
