Brze činjenice: Three Roman sarcophagi rest inside the abbey church, repurposed as tombs for the Doria family. Monks once fortified this cove against pirate raids, and the bell tower doubled as a watchtower.
Istaknuto: Look up at the 13th-century cloister arches: each one is carved from a single block of local black slate, not assembled from separate pieces. Rainwater drips through the center opening onto a mosaic of white and black pebbles, a pattern that has washed the same stone floor for over 700 years.
