Gyors tények: Három apszist és egy hatalmas központi kupolát faragtak közvetlenül a puha tufakőbe, létrehozva egy templomot, amely inkább barlangszékesegyháznak tűnik. A freskók itt két különálló korszakot ölelnek fel, a képrombolás időszakából származó geometrikus mintákkal, élénk későbbi szentábrázolások mellett.
Főbb látnivalók: Egy hatalmas Pantokrátor Krisztus-freskó őrködik a fő apszis fölött, átható tekintete követi a látogatókat a hajón keresztül. A templom 10 méter széles kupolája olyan akusztikai hatást kelt, hogy még egy suttogás is hallható az oltár közeléből a bejáratig.

- Wear closed-toe shoes with grip, as the stone floor is worn smooth and can be slippery near the altar area.
- Bring a small flashlight to see the upper fresco details, especially the ceiling paintings that are shadowed even midday.
- Visit the church first before exploring the cave houses across the street when crowds are thinner around 9 AM.
- The stone bench along the left wall was original seating for worshippers, sit there to appreciate the dome's scale.
