Visit in the late afternoon on a weekday to catch the golden light over the valley and dodge the weekend tour crowds. Spring and early autumn offer the most comfortable walking weather on the steep cobbled streets.

Entry to the castle grounds and bazaar is free; only the Skanderbeg Museum charges an admission fee of about 500 lek. Combine the museum ticket with a walk through the bazaar stalls below, where bargaining is expected and souvenirs cost far less than in Tirana.

Fatti rapidi: Il castello servì come roccaforte di Skanderbeg, l'eroe nazionale dell'Albania, che tenne a bada le forze ottomane qui per oltre due decenni nel XV secolo. Le sue mura di pietra si ergono ancora sopra la cittadina di Krujë, con la strada del bazar di epoca ottomana che corre proprio sotto le porte della fortezza.
