Fatti rapidi: Qui il 17 aprile 1971 fu prestato giuramento dal primo governo provvisorio del Bangladesh, e il luogo rimase un segreto geloso fino al giorno della cerimonia. Con un'estensione di 23 ettari, il complesso conserva la memoria della guerra di indipendenza di nove mesi che cambiò l'Asia meridionale.
Punti salienti: Sotto terra esiste un sistema di tunnel lungo 300 metri attraverso cui i leader fuggivano in India mentre sopra di loro i bombardieri sganciavano bombe. Le scale che portano al bunker sotterraneo sono ancora oggi scivolose a causa dell'umidità, e i visitatori le toccano con le mani sentendo il freddo del cemento che nascondeva un segreto.

- Be sure to visit the underground bunker on the south side; it is the coolest and most mysterious there.
- Photograph the monument from the east side in the morning when the sun illuminates the seven pillars at a 45-degree angle.
- Avoid weekends in March because thousands of schoolchildren come on field trips and it gets very crowded.
