Fatti rapidi: La sabbia vulcanica scura conferisce a questa spiaggia lacustre una tinta color carbone, un sottoprodotto del vulcano alto 2.847 metri che incombe direttamente sull'acqua. Anche nei giorni più caldi di gennaio il lago si aggira vicino ai 18 °C, così i nuotatori entrano in acqua per una scossa tonificante prima di crogiolarsi sulla sabbia nera.
Punti salienti: Dopo il tramonto, un debole impulso arancione spesso guizza dentro il cratere aperto del vulcano, un lago di lava che proietta sull'acqua il bagliore di un falò. L'eruzione del 2015 trasformò quell'impulso in fontane di roccia fusa che si inarcavano sopra la vetta, facendo correre i nuotatori verso la riva mentre l'intero cielo brillava di scarlatto.
