Weather in spring is perfect not too hot, but when I went in summer it rained a lot which made some trails slippery. Plan accordingly!
Food was a bit hit or miss, some local spots had great spicy noodles but touristy places are overpriced. Bring snacks if you want to save cash.
Stayed 3 days and felt rushed. To soak up the vibe and explore properly, give yourself at least 4 days, especially if hiking.
Avoid midday crowds by hitting the main scenic spots early morning. Also, taxi is cheap here, so using one to reach remote trailheads saves lots of energy and time.
The views in Zhangjiajie are wild, like walking inside a fantasy movie. Definitely pack comfy shoes, the trails can get steep. Loved the fresh mountain air!
