Fatti rapidi: La costruzione della moschea iniziò nel 1465 per ordine di Cihan Shah, ma fu completata dopo la sua morte dal sovrano Akkoyunlu Uzun Hasan. Sebbene le piastrelle turchesi della facciata esterna si siano deteriorate nel tempo, parte del rivestimento in ceramica degli interni è giunta fino a noi, e alcune di queste piastrelle hanno influenzato l'architetto Victor Horta, considerato un precursore dell'Art Nouveau.
Punti salienti: Sulla parete della qibla della moschea si trova un enorme mihrab in marmo senza eguali in Iran. Ma ciò che affascina davvero sono le gargolle in marmo scolpite a forma di testa di leone che circondano la vasca ottagonale all'ingresso: l'acqua che scorre da ciascuna di esse aggiunge un suono mistico al cortile.
