Sotto l'arena si trova un ipogeo intricato di tunnel e gabbie, dove animali e artisti venivano nascosti finché entrate drammatiche non li rivelavano alla folla.
Punti salienti: Camminare sull'arena rivela pietre consumate, staffe di ferro e superfici bruciate che ancora echeggiano il ruggito di immense folle e spettacoli imperiali. Sotto il pavimento, un ipogeo su due livelli con dozzine di camere e una rete di argani nascondeva bestie in gabbia e sollevava scenografie, offrendo una vista backstage viscerale che pochi siti antichi conservano così chiaramente.
