It is best to come in the morning before 10 AM, before the tourist groups arrive and while the weather is most pleasant for a walk. On weekdays, you will have the entire place almost all to yourself.

Fatti rapidi: Un tempo la città più ricca delle colonie britanniche nei Caraibi, Port Royal fu inghiottita da un terremoto e uno tsunami nel 1692 in pochi minuti. Oggi gran parte della città giace sott'acqua, e secoli dopo i subacquei ancora recuperano monete d'oro e artefatti dalle sue strade sommerse.

Punti salienti: Sotto le onde silenziose della baia si nasconde l'unica città del XVII secolo perfettamente conservata al mondo, con edifici rimasti intatti dal momento in cui il mare li inghiottì. Un'immersione a soli 12 metri di profondità rivela muri di mattoni, bottiglie di rum e frammenti di porcellana che tre secoli fa appartenevano a pirati e mercanti.
