Fatti rapidi: I cantieri navali, che da secoli fanno parte del paesaggio, operano ancora con metodi tradizionali. Gli artigiani locali costruiscono a mano le barche dhow senza alcun progetto, affidandosi solo alle conoscenze tramandate di generazione in generazione.
Punti salienti: A differenza di molti luoghi nel mondo, qui le navi vengono costruite senza alcuna struttura metallica, solo con la tecnica delle tavole di legno legate con corde. Il processo dura da 9 mesi a 2 anni, e ogni nave può trasportare fino a 200 tonnellate di carico, pur non avendo un solo chiodo.

- Dress comfortably, but avoid overly short clothing to show respect for the local craftsmen. The best viewpoint is from the pier on the western side, especially during sunset. Do not hesitate to politely ask the craftsmen to take photos, but do not disturb them while they are working. The bench in the shade of olive trees on the shore is a great spot to observe the work without getting in the way.
