Fatti rapidi: Stretching over 3 kilometers along Las Palmas' coastline, this urban beach is actually a protected marine reserve thanks to its natural offshore reef barrier. The golden sand was imported from the Sahara Desert in the 1970s after storms washed away the original beach.
Punti salienti: At low tide, you can walk out onto La Barra, the volcanic reef that runs parallel to the shore and creates calm, shallow pools teeming with tiny crabs and starfish. Locals gather here at sunset to watch the waves crash over the reef while the city lights begin to flicker behind them.
