If you want authentic Maltese food, skip the main tourist streets. There are tiny family-run places inland that blow the stuff on the coast out of the water.
Avoid wasting money on taxis every trip. Grab a prepaid bus card to save a bundle. The buses connect major spots reliably if you plan ahead.
Traveling in the low season meant fewer people and cheaper stays, which made the trip relaxing and budget-friendly overall.
Crowds were a bit much at the popular beaches mid-day, so we just went early mornings or late afternoons. That helped a lot.
