Quick facts: This landmark is underwater during major floods due to proximity to the Mondego river. The buildings were abandoned because frequent floods destroyed the land around the monastery itself.
Highlights: The underground parts of the monastery were discovered in 1994 during excavations, revealing medieval ways of life. Particularly interesting are the frescoes that survived the floods and retained their original colors.
