Quick facts: The Church of the Assumption of Mary was built in the 12th century in Romanesque style, but it acquired its current Gothic and Renaissance form in the 15th century. The bell tower, 36 meters high, was built separately from the church and offers panoramic views of the old town and the bay of Koper.
Highlights: Inside the cathedral lies a 15th-century carved wooden masterpiece, the polyptych by Vittore Carpaccio, with colors that have remained vibrant for 500 years. Climbing the 200 steps of the bell tower, you will discover a hidden platform that embraces the sky and the sea.
