Raske fakta: Samlingen rommer over 200 ikoner og 100 liturgiske gjenstander, mange skapt av 1500-tallsmaleren Onufri og hans sønn Nikolla. Kirkebygningen selv, Maria Himmelfartskirken, er fra 1797 og ble bygget innenfor murene til Berat slott.
Høydepunkter: Onufris ikoner skjuler en hemmelighet i malingen: han blandet eggehvite med et sjeldent rødt pigment laget av knust armensk stein, og den blandingen produserer en rødfarge som fortsatt gløder rikt etter nesten 500 år. Se nøye på hans "Nattverd", og ansiktene ser ut til å skifte når du beveger deg, en teknikk moderne forskere aldri har klart å gjenskape fullt ut.
