Augustiner Bräu Klosterkeller
Beste tid å besøke
Weekday afternoons are calmest, with the hall snowballing into a full roar from 6 p.m. sharp. A summer evening on the outdoor terrace is magical, but arrive before 7 p.m. to actually land a seat.
Budsjettips
Entry is free and a half-liter mug costs only a few euros, some of the cheapest beer in town. Return your stoneware mug to collect the small deposit, and bring cash, since the long faceless counters refuse cards.

Om
Raske fakta: Every pour comes from centuries-old wooden barrels kept in a cool, earthy cellar, and the cloudy Märzen is tapped straight into 0.5-liter stoneware mugs you carry yourself. The main hall seats roughly 1,400 people, making it one of the biggest beer rooms in Europe, yet everything runs on a lively self-service system.
Høydepunkter: Waiters don't exist here; instead you queue at a long wooden counter and hand over your stoneware mug to be dipped into a giant oak barrel, watching foam spill over the sides. Pull up a scarred wooden bench, order a razor-thin slice of radish, and let the clatter of hundreds of mugs and the drift of brass music wash over the vaulted, oil-lamped hall.
Insidertips
- Bring cash, because the beer counters only accept euros and you'll need a few coins for the mug deposit.
- Slide in before 5:30 p.m. to claim a bench in the main vaulted hall ahead of the evening flood.
- Grab a Brettljause snack board or a whole sliced radish from the little food stand to pair with your beer.
- Skip the crowded main entrance and head to the leafy fountain courtyard for the same beer with excellent light.
