Raske fakta: The 233.5-meter span made it the first iron bridge to cross the Yellow River when it opened back in 1909. German engineers from a Bremen-based firm supplied the prefabricated steel, which arrived by camel caravan across 2,000-plus kilometers of harsh terrain.
Høydepunkter: Look closely at the steel rivets and you will find a few still stamped with the original German foundry marks from the early 1900s. At dusk, the whole structure lights up in warm gold while the muddy Yellow River churns below, and the contrast between the iron skyline and the water's roiling brown makes for a totally different feel than daytime visits.

- Wear shoes with good grip, the deck plates stay slick after rain or morning mist.
- Shoot from the riverbank at the southwest corner to frame the bridge with the Yellow River in the foreground.
- Skip the daytime hours in summer, heat radiates off the steel and crowds peak by noon.
- Stay for 20 minutes after sunset so you can catch the lights cycling through several color phases.
