It is best to arrive shortly after opening in the morning, when the interior is quiet and you can enjoy the tour without crowds. Avoid the Thursday and Sunday market days, when the whole town is packed with tourists.
Budsjettips
The entrance fee is around 25 quetzals (approximately 80 CZK), which is a very reasonable price given the scope of the collection. If you visit the nearby Santo Tomás church and the museum on the same day, arrange a possible discount directly at the ticket office.

Raske fakta: Dette museet holder til i en bygning fra 1500-tallet som opprinnelig fungerte som kloster for dominikanermunker. Her finner du blant annet en samling av maya-steler, keramikk og hellige gjenstander brukt under seremonier i den nærliggende kirken Santo Tomás.
Høydepunkter: Museets største skatt er den originale samlingen av førkolumbiske steler og rituelle kar som avslører hverdagslivet til k'iche'-folkene lenge før spanjolenes ankomst. Verdifulle er også de tremaske ne fra tradisjonelle danser som fortsatt danses i regionen, og hver av dem bærer navnet og historien til en bestemt skikkelse fra maya-mytologien.

- Bring a small flashlight with you; some exhibits are placed in darker corners and the details on the stelae only stand out with additional lighting.
- You will take the best photos in the monastery garden, where there is daylight and the stelae stand outside against the green facade.
- Ask the staff about the stories behind the masks; many of them are still used during festivals and have their own history that you will not find in the captions.
- Combine your visit with a tour of the nearby Santo Tomás church, whose ritual practices are closely related to the exhibits in the museum.
