Raske fakta: Tett inntil en avsidesliggende Himalayadal i Himachal Pradesh ligger denne massive 1600-tallsfestningen, som en gang tjente som et viktig stoppested på den gamle Silkeveiens handelsrute. Den 2,5 kilometer lange ringmuren omkranser en liten bydel med templer, kornmagasiner og en skjult rømningstunnel som strekker seg nesten en kilometer gjennom fjellet.
Høydepunkter: Dyp inne i festningsmurene finnes en hemmelig tunnel i tre etasjer, hogd direkte ut av fast fjell og designet slik at hester kunne ri gjennom den for en rask flukt under beleiringer. - Climb to the highest watchtower near the western wall for unobstructed panoramic views of the valley and snow peaks.
- Arrive right when it opens to experience the fort before tour groups arrive especially during peak season from March to June.
