Raske fakta: Around 300 families live in this highland community, tending steep terraced fields carved into the hillsides over generations. Rice is harvested twice yearly here, and the surrounding forests are home to wild orchids and black macaques.
Høydepunkter: A traditional longhouse at the village center doubles as a communal corn-drying platform, where neighbors gather during harvest to trade stories and freshly ground coffee. If you visit on a Sunday, you might catch the elder women performing a morning chant that has been passed down orally for over a century.

- Wear sturdy hiking sandals or trail shoes, the stone steps get slippery after rain and the paths are uneven.
- Ask a farmer to walk you down to the lower terraces, the view from the bottom looking up is far more dramatic than from the road.
- Bring small bills in Indonesian rupiah, the village has no card payment facilities and no nearby ATM.
- Skip the midday heat by arriving right at 8 a.m., you will have the terraces almost entirely to yourself before tour groups arrive.
