Locals say the shadow of the pagoda falls across the shrine's inner sanctuary during the autumn equinox, a phenomenon that lasts only a few minutes each year.

- Wear shoes with decent grip since the paved path up to the pagoda becomes slippery after rain.
- The best photo spot is from the Daishoin Temple grounds just uphill, where the pagoda frames the sea behind it.
