Come at 6:00-7:00 AM, when the boats are just returning and the liveliest auction begins. By 10:00 AM most of the fish has already been sold, and the market calms down.

Insidertips
- Wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty: the concrete floor is wet and slippery from scales and water.
- The best photos are taken from the pier, where you can see boats unloading sharks right onto the concrete.
- Try "sambusa" (fish pie) from the grandmothers at the entrance; they fry them right in front of you.
- Do not photograph the vendors without asking: smile, ask for permission, and they won't refuse you.
