Raske fakta: Her ligger en av verdens største naturlige havner, som i århundrer har vært et knutepunkt for handel. De hvite sandstrendene strekker seg nesten 30 kilometer, og vannet er så klart at man kan se bunnen på ti meters dyp.
Høydepunkter: Nær kystlinjen ligger ruinene av gamle handelsbyer fra Egypts og Romas tid, som sanden gjennom århundrene gjentatte ganger har svelget og igjen blottlagt. Lokale fiskere finner av og til gamle mynter og keramikkskår i sanden, som forteller historien om denne havnens fjerne betydning på handelsrutene over Indiahavet.

- In the morning you will meet local fishermen at the beach bargaining over their catch, the most interesting conversations start there.
- Do not swim alone at sunset, the sea breeze can suddenly strengthen and the currents can change.
